Sound design for fiction short film
Long Journey till Dawn is a psychological fiction short film directed by Luis Arellano, selected for Macabro Film Festival — Mexico's leading horror and dark genre film festival. The project was developed in collaboration with Luis Arellano from the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC), one of Mexico's most prestigious film schools.
The film centers on a character unraveling after the loss of her daughter. Sound became the primary tool for externalizing her mental deterioration — not through obvious horror conventions, but through carefully layered temporal displacement.
Three sonic elements converge in the film's key scene: a music box from the past, an off-screen confrontation from the future, and rain grounding the present. Each layer exists in a different emotional time, creating a haunting atmosphere where the character's grip on reality is audibly slipping.
